Funerals at Trafalgar Christian Church

The loss of a family member is difficult. Trafalgar Christian Church is here to make this time of grief easier. Many times it is generally more affordable to have funerals at the church than a funeral chapel. We are here to help you lay your loved one to rest in an affordable, dignified, and loving way.

Our services available include a grave-side memorial, funeral service, family vigil, and calling hours. We are more than willing to work with you to incorporate the deceased’s favorite hymns, readings from Sacred Scripture by family and friends, eulogies from loved ones, and a service of Holy Communion, if desired. Whatever is important to you, we are willing to accommodate. We will work with Swartz, Flynn and Maguire, Meredith-Clark, and other local funeral homes. A small donation to the minister and church to keep this vital ministry alive is requested.

Flowers and Décor

Flowers should be arranged with the florist associated with the funeral home. Reach out if you need assistance from our flower fund. We would love to keep your loved one’s fresh flowers on our altar for as long as they last. The altar cloths will be white in commemoration of the Resurrection of Our Lord in recognition of the Christian soul sharing in that Promise.

Music

We have an organ, piano, and flutist available. Solos from members and loved ones are encouraged if the deceased would be pleased with them. Songs from Chalice Hymnal are readily available as well as other Christian music. If you would like a band, we request that you arrange this yourself. Secular music is allowed as long as it does not interfere with the sacredness of the church. As a funeral is a somber event, we request that an aura of reverence be observed. Please give praise to any musicians after the funeral.

Celebration of Life- Funeral Dinners

We traditionally have a dinner for church members, family, and friends of the deceased. Generally, it is a pitch-in prepared by church members for funeral guests and the church as a time of remembrance and fellowship. We are always looking for an opportunity to gather around the table for a warm meal, so please ask if you would like a funeral dinner. We can also bring hor d'oeuvres to the funeral home or a loved one’s home.
